Poltrona Frau 1919 armchair in brown SC leather. Seasoned beech support structure. The ‘1919’ armchair, named after the year in which it was designed, is actually archived under the code ‘128’. Although allegedly designed for a specific person, Filiberto Ludovico of Savoy, Duke of Pistoia, it was to become one of the first great public successes. A re-interpretation of the classic Bergere model, the ‘1919’ adds to its forefathers, with the strength of its characteristics capitonné working used on the backrest. Some technical details: Seat, backrest and armrests sprung by means of hand-tied double cone steel springs resting on jute belts. Seat padding is in rubberised horsehair; the backrest and armrests are in hand-shaped vegetable horsehair. The seat cushion is in goose down. The backrest design is obtained by manual capitonné working. A row of leather-upholstered nails further embellishes the back.
